 Tom Shields, Trumpet:
Tom Shields has played in the
Hopkins Symphony Orchestra since 1990 and has been principal trumpet since the
mid-90's. During that time, he has also played for musical-theater
productions, weddings, and church services, especially at the Cathedral of
the Incarnation in Baltimore. He has studied with Wayne Cameron, freelance
professional trumpeter and music director of the UMBC Orchestra. Before the
Hopkins Symphony Orchestra, he played with the UMBC Orchestra, the Towson
State University Orchestra, the Rochester (Michigan) Orchestra, and the
University of Chicago Orchestra. While in Chicago he studied with Ross
Beacraft, longtime pit orchestra member with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and
member of the staff at DePaul University.
